Qualifying BRMs
To line up for the start of Paris-Brest-Paris 2027, all participants must have completed qualifying BRM (Brevet des Randonneurs Mondiaux). In 2026, these tests are optional, they just allow you to pre-register earlier. In 2027, before Paris-Brest-Paris, these events are mandatory to be able to take the start. The details are specified in the regulations, here is a summary:
- In 2026, ride successfully at least one BRM to be able to pre-register earlier for Paris-Brest-Paris. Your longest BRM completed in 2026 will be taken into account to determine the date from which you can pre-register. The greater the distance of this BRM, the sooner you can pre-register, and thus choose your starting wave. Cyclists who haven't riden a BRM in 2026 will also be able to pre-register for Paris-Brest-Paris, but at a later date.
- In 2027, before the departure of Paris-Brest-Paris, you will need to have completed at least the complete series of BRM 200, 300, 400 and 600. These four BRMs are mandatory. These distances are minimum distances, i.e. a BRM 300 can replace a BRM 200, a BRM 1000 can replace a BRM 600... The main thing is to make 4 BMRs of these minimum distances.

What is a BRM?
BRMs (Brevet des Randonneurs Mondiaux) are cycling endurance events of 200, 300, 400, 600 and 1000km to be completed within a set time limit: 13h30 for a BRM200, 20h for a BRM300, 27h for a BRM400, 40h for a BRM600 and 75h for a BRM1000. They are organized in almost 70 countries on 5 continents. These non-competitive and inexpensive events are a great way to practice long-distance cycling in a group, and to gain experience or share the experience you already have.
